What happens with Water in your iPhone?
Once the water gets into your iPhone it is very easy for you to make the water evaporate. But what remains after the evaporation kills your iPhone component one by one. Minerals forms on the contacts and on the logic board causing corrosion, which eventually makes your iPhone go dead.
What are the odds of it working again?
If the iPhone was totally submerged in water for more than a minute or went through a full washing cycle, then the chances of it working again are super low. What if we find that the damage is not that bad and the repair can be attempted?
Then we go to step 2 of ultrasound and alcohol cleaning of the logic board and components. We also change the batteries as part of the repair. This is because the batteries go dead with water and lose their full charge capacity. We also check if any other parts need replacement. The replacement of one part (the battery) is covered in Water Damage Repair, but you have to pay for any other parts in need of changing.
Now the Result:
There is 70% chance of iPhone working fine after step 2. If the iPhone works perfectly after step 2 then you pay $99. If the iPhone does not work perfectly after step 2 then you pay $49. Price includes FedEx 3 Day shipping with Insurance.
What if everything works, but the camera?
You pay $99 only if all the components in your iPhone is working; anything not working like the camera or wifi then you only pay $49.
Will my data be lost on the iPhone?
With Water Repair, there is less than 10% chance that your data may be lost after the repair, we try to make it work without losing the data. Sometimes even if the repair fails you might be able to get the data.
Will Apple know that the iPhone was opened and a repair was done?
From the outside Apple cannot tell that the iPhone was opened. But if they open up the iPhone they will know that the repair was done. We have to remove the inside stickers and the metal cover EMI shield of logic board for ultrasound and alcohol cleaning. With the missing sticker and missing metal shield on the logic board Apple can tell easily that the iPhone was opened.
